Hi Julie – I received from my daughter today the results of her colostomy at U of M Ann Arbor She was told that she had a “large” tumor where the colon met the rectum and that they could not asses the area beyond the tumor. She had previously had blood work (not good) – A c/t scan and biopsy – also not good. She is a special ed teacher in central MI. teacher in her late 40″s. Naturally we are in a quandary as to how best to move ahead and succeed with its treatment. Your blog was sent on to me by old friends from Jackson – you may be the daughter of their friends……… Dan

If I were you, I’d be heading back to U-M and talking to them about options and I’d also get more than one opinion. Not all doctors think the same. But, also, it’s important not to get too discouraged. While it’s important to be realistic, there’s lot of people who beat the odds.
